Watering the Garden

The garden now has a brand new drip irrigation system. The hose is hooked up to a series of black tubes that run along the length of the beds and irrigate the soil close to the roots for maximum water retention. A photo is below.

For those who don't know, our old system was to hook up three hoses to the spigot in the greenhouse and water by hand. This makes things much easier. Instructions on how to turn the drip system on are below, but if you need to water an area that the drip system doesn't cover or you think a certain area needs extra water, you can hook up hose 2 (coiled outside the greenhouse) to hose three (coiled up by the garden), detach it from the drip system, attach the regular hose nozzle (which is in the greenhouse), turn the water spigot handle 90 degrees, and water away.

Here's how to do it with the drip system:

Hook up the greenhouse hose to the hose right outside the greenhouse. Connect the second hose to the hose that's coiled by the garden and connected to the drip system. Go back and turn the water on (turn the spigot handle 90 degrees. Now for the tricky part. Go back up to the garden, open the green flap on the drip system console, and press the button farthest to the right. This will turn the system on for 30 minutes. Repeat as desired. A picture is below to show which button is the correct one. Happy watering!
